Aphorisms

1.

Under Aries are born men of thick hair, white or yellowish, curling long visage, crooked nose, hazel eyes, little ears, short legs, little feet, the first 15 degrees gives a more gross body then the later.

2.

Under Taurus are men of a short and thick stature, big broad men, high forehead, wide nose, great mouth, fat short neck, dark ruddy colour, short arms and thick black hair, big buttocks, short legs slow to move but once angered never pleased again.

3.

Gemini gives a delicate, straight, well composed and well set body, good colour, bright clear eyes, good sight, and piercing; long arms and long hands and feet, large brest, brown hair, good wit, fluent tongue, and apt discourse, yet a man of no great fidelity.

4.

Cancer gives but a short stature; yet the later 15 degrees gives a more full body than the former: you know one sprat may be something bigger than another: the upper parts of the body more thick than the lower: disorder in the teeth, little eyes, blackish hair, a low whinning voice.

5

Leo a rising gives great head and eyes quick sight, a large lusty strong body; full of metal, courageous, stouthearted, thick broad shoulders; yellowish or flaxen hair; a big great voice, resolute spirit, aspiring brain, of generous, free hearted and courteous disposition.

6.

Virgo arising at a nativity, gives a spare body, yet well composed; a mean stature, lovely brown complexion, great eyes, thick black hair, subtle wit, no great fidelity, aiming at self ends.

7

Scorpio gives but a short stature, yet a big limbed, full and well set body, strong and active; willful, malicious, false, and deceitful; sad brown hair, dark sallow complexion, short neck; quick in motion of body, but reserved thoughts

8

Twere pity to have missed Libra, the comeliest of person, and uprightest in condition of all the zodiack.
Libra gives a delicate, comely, straight body; a round, fair and well favored face, hair for the most part flaxen or light brown, but sometimes black; a cheerful well sp ken creature: red lips, cherry cheeks, a tall slender body, courteous, impartial, just and upright in all their dealings.

9.

Under Sagittarius are born strait, well proportioned bodies, strong and well set; of a loving cheerful contenance, high color, oval visage, good horsemen, and great shooters; stout hearted brown hair, and quickly bald.

10.

Capricorn gives a very slender, weakly, many dry and [?] in the face and thin black hair and exceeding thick [?] Oblique or pale of beard [?] [?] [?] middle about the brests; long necked, and disproported body, witty, cholerick, and abdiad ?

11.

Under Aquarius are born men of a middle stature, well shaped, clear skin, fair heritage [?], yet more lovely than beautiful, or curious, yet a handsome comely [?] body, a whitish –bright hair, and sometimes yellow.

12.

Pisces gives a short, ill composed body, yet a good face of clear complexion and color; thick shoulders, brown hair, fat and plump in all parts, an idle body else no way hurtful.

Happy May! We start on Tuesday (the day of the week for Mars) with the Moon conjunct Mars in Virgo. Let this be a month of care and consideration as well as a month of merriment.

Wed May 02 the Moon is void of course in Virgo for most of the day but enters Libra in the evening. Have a methodical, productive work day, then a more relaxed social evening.

Fri May 04 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Libra then goes void of course until entering Scorpio in the evening. You can smoothly deal with obligations, then ease into a serious but still pleasant weekend.

Sat May 05 the Moon is in Scorpio when Mercury exactly opposes Saturn. Self-criticism, indeed all crilticism, can be constructive and free of pointless doubts. That night, we get the Full Moon at 16 Sco. Heads Up. This is also Wesak, the celebration of the birth of the Buddha. Visualize tea and flowers falling from the sky. Apply yourself to improving your world as well as your work. My plan for this lunation is to wage peace, and have a cup of tea.

Tue May 08 the Moon is void of course in Sagittarius most of the day, entering Capricorn that evening. The day may seem scattered, but you can get back in touch with a lot of people. Three hours later, Mercury changes signs, leaving Aries for Taurus. If thinking gets a bit slower, it may also get more practical and intent on basic niceness.

Wed May 09 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. Let people leave you voice mail. Get a lot done.

Sun May 13 the Moon enters Pisces in the early morning. Look forward to dreams rich in emotion. Two hours later the Sun conjuncts Jupiter. Think lucky, the whole world over. Four hours later the Moon conjuncts Neptune in Pisces. Don't even bother trying to think. Three and a half hours later, though, Mercury makes a trine to Mars. Perhaps thinking may resume. As creators and lovers of life, happy Mother's Day to us all.

Mon May 14 the Moon is in Pisces all day. Dream material may find its way into your waking world. Mercury trines Pluto today. You might discover that sometimes it's fun to dig in and work on something serious. Seriousness does not have to mean grim.

Tue May 15 the Moon is void of course in Pisces when Venus goes stationary retrograde at 23 Gemini. Heads Up. Make an effort to not take personal offense at anything and expect slightly less elegance and glamour in the world, and you'll get through this retrograde just fine. Don't overanalyze anything. From now till June 28, aesthetic taste, politeness and charm may go slightly underground. On the up side, Venus gets to spend a lot of extra time in Gemini. (This could be a good time to crank out that revenge-filled divorce from hell romance novel. Just a thought.)

Wed May 16 the Moon is in Aries all day. Now that should be energizing! In the morning, the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Aries. Work on something surprising or totally unscheduled, but don't get so derailed that you work on nothing. Four hours later Mars makes a trine to Pluto. This can be a serious big gun for the good. Do something good with all this energy. Heads Up.

Sat May 19 the Moon conjuncts Mercury in Taurus. Work on clever schemes but don't expect prompt results. And, Heads Up. It's the day before the New Moon (which will also be a solar eclipse).Be safe and alert. Caution is good; paranoia is not. Plus, it's the last day of the month when the Sun is in Taurus. Don't be surprised if a lot of people are extra stubborn today. Tomorrow the pace of everything may be faster and crisper. Heads Up again.

Sun May 20 a very dark crescent Moon conjuncts Jupiter at 24 Taurus. Resolve to let today be lucky, no matter how things feel. Perhaps your best luck will be of the private kind. Three hours later the Sun changes signs and enters Gemini. See the world with a fresh pair of eyes, and be sparing in commenting on it all. Almost nine hours later, the Sun and Moon finally meet up to make the New Moon at 00Gem. This is also a solar eclipse, visible from the western US, but the Sun won't dim because it's an annular eclipse (the Moon is slightly too far from the Earth and therefore too small to cover the entire face of the Sun). This is your basic major Heads Up kind of day, profoundly energetic and intense, second only to that Full Moon in Scorpio that happened on May 05. Stay calm, centered, and share your serenity with everyone. Tomorrow you may have brilliant fresh new tales to tell.

Mon May 21 the Moon is in Gemini all day. Near the end of day, Mercury conjuncts Jupiter. Take advantage of this applying conjunction to think and create on as big a scale as you can. You can get a lot done today. In fact, you can start some amazing projects that will need the rest of the year to finish. Don't be shy about anything, but don't overdo it and chase people away. With tact, you could successfully pitch a project or sell something big. Why not?

Tue May 22 the Moon conjuncts Venus retrograde in Gemini. Cleverness can be good if dressed in a bit of pleasantry. Smile at least as much as you talk today.

Wed May 23 the Moon enters Cancer in the early morning. We are enjoying a month of Wednesdays with the Moon in cardinal signs, and today may be the most calm and comfortable Wednesday, conducive to getting work done, especially in more domestic settings. Have a cup of tea, maybe more, and write.

Thu May 24 the Moon is still in Cancer when Mercury changes signs and moves into its home sign of Gemini. You may have more ideas and desires to start projects than any human can contain, so take notes. You have all year to pace yourself. We have from now till June 25 to enjoy Mercury working his communicative magic in his home sign. Don't waste a day of it. Take this as a prolonged and good Heads Up.

Sun May 27 the Moon is in Leo when Mercury conjuncts the Sun. Write with extra pride today. You can show it to the world later. Or, heck, maybe it's a good day to schedule a public reading. I just love it when someone reads to me.

Mon May 28 the Moon conjuncts Mars at the close of day. This is especially appropriate for Memorial Day in the US. Be strong, brave, and dignified today, and let your work reflect your skill, training, and self-discipline. Recall, in this month of thirty-one days, we're getting this conjunction for the second time. The rest of the sky, of course, is different.

Wed May 30 the Moon is in pleasant Libra when Mercury exactly squares Mars. Even the most contentious, controversial subjects can be discussed calmly and constructively. Go for the constructive criticism and skip the ruffled feathers, especially your own.

Thu May 31 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Libra, then goes void of course. End this month with at least the veneer of agreeability and respect for the opinions of others. Respect your own opinions, too, and don't hesitate to politely share and explain them to willing listeners, operative word 'willing.' There's no pleasure or profit in capturing an audience that will rebel later.

As is fitting for a month on the crest of high spring, this May is classic in its energy, growth, vivaciousness, and colorful glory. You may prefer to work on more serious subjects or even on things nearly engulfed in shadow, and if so you'll find plenty of help from the sky to do that, too. Take a firm grip on your dreams and plans, and bring at least a small part of one of them to brilliant life. Everything wants to live and grow. That includes you and your work. Let the sun shine on your efforts. Bask in the luxury of doing something that you love. Heads Up!

Heads Up!
The Writer's Astrological Almanac

by Kathy Watts

April 2012

Happy glorious April! April the First, All Fools' Day, starts off on Sunday, the Sun's day, with the Moon entering Leo. Let this be a month of bright golden moments, and I'm not fooling around. It's true, we still have a few more days of Mercury being retrograde, but that can add focus as well as slow down the fast pace. The Sun is in the heart of Aries. You can make this month work for you.

Tue Apr 03 the Moon is in Virgo when Venus changes signs and enters the sign of Gemini. For all the rest of this month, Venus is a guest in Mercury's house. May your writing (and all communications) be at their most beautiful and charming. The Moon also conjuncts Mars today. Take that as an extra dose of energy to pour into your work. Perhaps it's a good day to do some hardcore editing.

Wed Apr 04 the Moon is in Virgo all day. Mercury goes stationary direct today. Heads Up in the best of ways. Mercury will still be profoundly slow-moving in the sky, so don't expect things to instantly spring into quickness. Make your work and your words precisely what you want them to be.

Fri Apr 06 we get the Full Moon at 17 Libra. Heads Up. Put some effort this month into what benefits friends, partners, and others in general. Then go out and have a genteel and social Friday night, when friends and partners can be there for you.

Sat Apr 07 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Libra, then goes void of course for five hours before entering Scorpio. You can get some serious work done this weekend. You could also socialize constructively and gracefully without blowing a lot of time on petty concerns.

Tue Apr 10 the Moon is in Sagittarius all day. Pluto stations and turns retrograde. The Moon in Sagittarius is the important part so be happy, but remember to apply yourself to constructive ends.

Wed Apr 11 the Moon enters Capricorn in the first half of the day. For the rest of this month, we get Wednesdays with the Moon in Cardinal signs. Make an effort to be practical about starting projects. For some of us, starting projects is the most fun part. (Finishing may be gratifying, but fun? Well sometimes.)

Thu Apr 12 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. You can do serious work without getting grim about it. One day a month of this isn't too painful, especially when you look back on real results, however small.

Fri Apr 13 the Moon enters Aquarius in the afternoon. Six hours later, Mars stations and prepares to turn direct. Heads Up. You can think clearly about the most involved and huge issues, and not get swept away in some knee-jerk reaction. Keep a lid on any righteous indignation, though. Or, put it into that wild confrontational scene. It is stuff that's too good to waste.

Sun Apr 15 the Moon is void of course in Aquarius when the Sun exactly opposes Saturn. Heads Up. You may not be able to make the world exactly as you would like, but you do have total control over your writing.

Mon Apr 16 the Moon conjuncts Neptune in Pisces. If you can't meditate, you can still dream and imagine. Twelve hours later, Mercury continues moving on, leaving Pisces and entering the sign of Aries. We will enjoy Mercury being a guest in the house of Mars for the rest of this month. Heads Up. Look forward to a reenergized writing energy, to work on your own material.

Wed Apr 18 the Moon conjuncts Mercury in Aries, then eight hours later conjuncts Uranus in Aries. This is a lot of Aries energy. Be happy Mars is direct now. Wild and crazy ideas and actions, with wild and crazy rationalizations, may be the order of the day. Heads Up. It's a good day to stay out of silly arguments. It's also the day when the Sun is in the last degree of the sign of Aries. Heads Up. Tomorrow the world will feel much slower and denser.

Thu Apr 19 the Moon is in Aries all day. The Sun, however, moves into the first degree of Taurus. Pause and do something beautiful and comforting with it. You have all this next solar month to not be rushed through anything if you don't want.

Fri Apr 20 the Moon is void of course in Aries for most of the second half of the day. Evening, the Moon enters Taurus, priming us for the New Moon tomorrow. Heads Up. Have a pleasant enough evening, but prepare yourself for a busy weekend.

Sat Apr 21 is the New Moon at 01 Taurus. You can make things around you the way you want them to be, and you can get a bit of work done. If you concentrate on having your routine and environment pleasant and organized, it can only make it easier to work. Start with that.

Sun Apr 22 the Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Taurus, then goes void of course for the rest of the day. A little extra luck, perhaps out in public, can give you a lift to take into the coming week. In the afternoon, Mercury conjuncts Uranus in Aries. Be willing to briefly surprise yourself.

Mon Apr 23 the Moon enters Gemini. You know what that means. Write. (For me, it also often means getting a few more boxes of teabags. Where there's tea, there's productivity.)

Tue Apr 24 the Moon is in Gemini all day, and conjuncts Venus in the evening. Luxuriate with all this niceness in the atmosphere, and write away!

Wed Apr 25 the Moon is void of course in Gemini when Mercury squares Pluto retrograde. Heads Up. Keep those jarring opinions and inflammatory thoughts in the mouths and minds of the appropriate characters and far from, oh, emails and the phone. Late that evening, the Moon enters Cancer. You can rein yourself in even tighter, and be the happier and more productive for it.

The rest of the month has no outstanding Moon or Mercury aspects going on, unless you like the Moon in Virgo opposing Neptune in Pisces on Mon Apr 30. Anything that works to dispel delusions and illusions, to make mental and psychic room for more clear thinking might possibly be a good thing.

As artists and writers, though, we need to take a little care with this, since illusion is a big part of what we do. In a lot of different ways, we manipulate reality. We all do, actually. Reality is ours to invent and reinvent with each and every thought. Take the high road and see what revelations and inspirations you can share and thus promote and manifest in some form or another in the world and reality of others. Have a brilliant and powerful month. Heads Up!

March 2012

Happy windy month of March! We begin on a Thursday (Jupiter's day) with the Moon in Gemini all day. Start big, or at least think and plan big. Sprouting and growing are big parts of what spring is all about.

Fri Mar 02 the Moon is still in Gemini when Mercury changes signs and enters Aries. Our words can be more fully and truly our own.

Sat Mar 03 the Moon is in Cancer all day. Today the Sun opposes Mars retrograde. This is when Mars transits at your local midnight and shines the brightest. Weather and schedule permitting, go out and look. If you've never seen it before, you may be amazed. Refrain from confrontation (except perhaps in works of fiction) and direct your extra energies into activities that try to solve problems. Any success will only be reflected back on you.

Sun Mar 04 the Moon is still in Cancer when Venus opposes Saturn. This is the classic tug of war between self-indulgence and self-sacrifice. Good plot complication material, here, if only because it's so true to life.

Mon Mar 05 the Moon is in mighty Leo all day. Venus changes signs and enters her diurnal home sign of Taurus. It's a good day to give and receive compliments. Make them sincere. An hour later Mercury conjuncts Uranus in very early Aries. You know, some surprising ideas can have a big audience.

Wed Mar 07 the Moon conjuncts Mars retrograde in Virgo. Work slowly, steadily, and carefully. Don't let anyone tease you about it, either. Your results will speak for themselves.

Thu Mar 08 is the Full Moon at 18Vir. Consider how powerful a modest but flawless presentation can be. Ask for better appreciation and skill with the details of those things that you love to do.

Sat Mar 10 the Moon conjuncts Saturn, goes void of course, then enters Scorpio three hours later. Be gracious (but not cloying) socially, and hope it takes some of the edge off the normal Scorpio seriousness to come.

Sun Mar 11 the Moon is in Scorpio all day. To add to the gravitas, tomorrow Mercury begins the first retrograde period of the year. Heads Up. Mercury will be swishing back and forth over the first six degrees of Aries and then the last seven degrees of Pisces. Give a care to what you begin, what new things you acquire, and what new people and ideas come your way. Make your normal Mercury retro preparations, maybe get a spare hot pot or other small appliance that you rely on, in case it decides to check out without warning. Otherwise, stay calm and don't skip teatime. Be good to your morale.

Mon Mar 12 the Moon is in Scorpio when Mercury goes stationary retrograde. Heads Up. Use this time to check any of those tempting self-indulgent impulses and stay focused on what matters, in addition to yourself of course. Stay calm, organized, and patient with others, with their machines, and tolerant of their bad driving. Safety first for all. You can still be productive through all this, you know.

Tue Mar 13 the Moon is in Sagittarius all day.It has the makings of a big day. In the evening Venus comes to life when she trines Pluto. This can be a big, even if quiet, evening. Four hours later Venus conjuncts Jupiter. It doesn't get bigger than this. Be extravagant with your words, and maybe try to hold it there.

Wed Mar 14 the Moon spends a second full day in Sagittarius. Heads up, though. If yesterday was for Venus, today is for Mars. Mars retrograde trines Jupiter. You can quietly keep the lid on things and still make it feel like growth. Three hours later Mars retrograde trines Pluto. Some good big change may be on hold. Who knows but you might get a great acceptance letter, a month or three from now. Don't even bother being impatient.

Thu Mar 15 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. I always like to take this aspect and soak it in full-bore focussed hard work on something I love.

Sun Mar 18 the Moon is in Aquarius when Mercury retrograde conjuncts Uranus in Aries. This is a ton of Aries energy being poured out over the world. Collect your share of it and do something smart and responsible with it. It's also the last day of the month that the Sun spends in the sign of Pisces. You want more of the fire of Aries? It's coming tomorrow. Heads Up. Today, though, the Sun in the last degree of Pisces brings us one of the most severely touchy-feely supersensitive days of the year. You bet, Heads Up.

Mon Mar 19 the Moon conjuncts Neptune in early Pisces. The Moon is still deep in Pisces when three hours later the Sun changes signs, crosses the celestial equator on its way north, and enters the sign of Aries the Ram. It's the vernal equinox, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. Cast a chart today for your location and get a glimpse at your next three months. Heads Up in a good way.

Wed Mar 21 the Moon is still in Pisces when the Sun conjuncts Mercury retrograde. Heads Up. If emotions overflow, direct the stream into your writing. One more Heads Up - tomorrow is the New Moon. Keep your emotions, pride, and all other ego-involvements under the best restraint you have. This won't stop you from doing what's most important to get done.

Thu Mar 22 the very dark Moon conjuncts Mercury retrograde, then two and half hours later we get the New Moon at 02Ari. Heads Up. Celebrate that new things can still be started in this world. Choose one to start yourself. Four hours after this, the very young Moon conjuncts Uranus. Heads Up. If you haven't already settled on what to start, something stirring and bizarre may choose you.

Fri Mar 23 the Moon is in Aries when Mercury retrograde reenters Pisces. If you thought that thinking was muddled and slow before, well,...this state of mind can be very productive for writers, though, so long as you don't get attached to it, because a lot what gets written may not be especially good. Still, writing is writing. It's what we do.

Sat Mar 24 the Moon is void of course in Aries when the Sun conjuncts Uranus at 04Ari. Heads Up. This can be one of the more rebellious days of the year. Cherish independence and that rebel spirit, be brave and bold, but try to not let the revolution eat you and your children. This is the stuff of history as well as the stuff of fiction. It's a good day to reread A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens.

Sun Mar 25 the Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Taurus. Celebrate with one small yummy treat. One. And maybe share it. Feel virtuous and spoiled at the same time. Writers need this on occasion.

Mon Mar 26 the Moon conjuncts Venus in Taurus. it's the Moon's day of the week, too, so be confident that you have an audience and other kindred spirits who love what you love. Write more of it.

Tue Mar 27 the Moon enters the sign Gemini, where it will be until Thursday morning Mar 29. Write, talk, communicate, dabble, indulge in all things intellectual and social. But don't forget to write.

Wed Mar 28 the Moon is in Gemini all day. So, write. Mercury retrograde may slow this down a bit, but only a bit. It may help minimize some of the usual scatter and distraction, actually. Make this retrograde your friend. It's not too late. This is the last Wednesday of the month, and four of them have seen the Moon in a mutable sign. Hopefully people have not eaten up too much of your Wednesday time. The Moon leaves Gemini tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, so the clock is running.

This has been a month of tremendous, even heady ups and downs. It makes for a lot of drama, doesn't it? Put as much of it as you can into your work and keep as much of it out of your daily life and dreams at night. Unless this is your method for getting inspired, of course. March has been the first month of the year for many people for many years. It's still true in some parts of the world that the New Year comes with spring. You can take up that outlook too, and become more active and outgoing. You will always need your private creative time but when the world calls out like this (actually, I think it's shouting), well, it may be unwise to try and block it out. Have a brilliant dynamic month of March and of all the spring. Send stuff out, submit, contact new markets, heck, just introduce yourself. It's what Aries is all about. Heads Up!

Heads Up!
The Writer's Astrological Almanac

by Kathy Watts

February 2012

Happy February!

Wed Feb 01 gives us the Moon moving into Gemini. We start the month off with a writing bash that lasts until Friday evening. Put on that extra sweater, socks, maybe turn up the heat, or cuddle closer to your laptop, and indulge your writing passion while the outside world does its chill winter thing (assuming you're in the northern hemisphere or not in the tropics, Hawaii or Key West or some other classic writer refuge). Also today, Venus exactly opposes Mars retrograde. Ah, Love on the tips of both horns. Perhaps paper (or bytes) are the best place to put passions today.

Thu Feb 02 the Moon trines Mercury, a nice touch to add when the Moon is already in Mercury's home sign of Gemini. Ideas should be in generous supply today. Take notes.

Fri Feb 03 the Moon is still in Gemini when Neptune finally leaves the sign of Aquarius and moves into Pisces. This is the modern home sign for Neptune (traditional astrologers still prefer Pisces being ruled by Jupiter). Regardless, if we can keep our illusions, addictions and fantasies in check, this has to be good for all things artistic and visionary. Neptune will experience a retrograde period later this year, but it will go direct again at 00Pis22. Neptune, say goodbye to Aquarius. To celebrate, blast some of your favorite music, or have a private film festival.

Tue Feb 07 the Moon is in Leo when the Sun conjuncts Mercury. Five hours later Saturn goes stationary retrograde in the last degree of Libra. This is a long slow Heads Up. This can stall progress with relationships, romantic or business. And, heck, it's the very middle of the Via Combusta. The only good thing I can think about this is, at least Saturn is answering to Venus, to the extent that Saturn listens to anything. Eight hours later, we get the Full Moon at 18Leo. Ask for something noble, grand, and worth sharing with the world. Fifty minutes later, the Moon opposes Mercury. Don't get hyper-self-critical but take this chance to look at your ideas with a fresh pair of eyes. Later that night, Venus changes signs, leaves Pisces and begins the zodiac again when she enters Aries. Something beautiful can be born anew or get a second chance.

Wed Feb 08 the Moon enters Virgo in the morning. Look forward to a focused day of work, with minimum excitement and psychodrama. We are getting a month of 5 Wednesdays with the Moon in mutable signs. The first and last Wednesdays, the Moon is in Gemini. Write about people, don't let them swamp you, and you should make some serious progress.

Thu Feb 09 the Moon is in Virgo all day. This is not quite as good as the Moon in Gemini, but it's not bad. Edit something you wrote yesterday. Venus conjuncts Uranus in early Aries today. Start something beautiful even if it's tiny, just for yourself. Evening, the Moon conjuncts Mars retrograde. Brainstorm.

Sun Feb 12 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in the end of Libra, then goes void of course. Remember to be nice and appreciate small kindnesses. Don't let self-criticism run rampant. You're doing fine. Now say it again.

Mon Feb 13 the Moon is in Scorpio all day. Get serious. This afternoon, Mercury changes signs and enters Pisces. Your thoughts may take a more philosophic bend. Before day's end, Mercury conjuncts Neptune. Write and create uncensored but think twice before saying something out loud.

Wed Feb 15 the Moon is in Sagittarius all day. Be adventurous in your work.

Thu Feb 16 the Moon is still in Sagittarius when Mercury sextiles Jupiter. You can do lots of little favors, especially for writer friends, but don't get swept away with it.

Fri Feb 17 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. It's also the last day of the month that the Sun spends in the sign of Aquarius. Heads Up. Stay pleasant and practical, and don't let anyone tell you that you haven't accomplished enough.

Sat Feb 18 the Moon is in Capricorn all day. The Sun trines Saturn today. Responsibility doesn't have to be a burden. Just do what you need to do. Later, the Sun leaves Aquarius and moves into the sign of Pisces. Heads Up. The world takes on a more ethereal, emotional quality. Give yourself, your work, and others, more slack for the next month.

Sun Feb 19 the Moon enters Aquarius. That night, the Sun conjuncts Neptune in the very first degree of Pisces. Heads Up. This could be one of the moodiest and frustrated-feeling days of the year. Socially, be cool and cheerful. Save all that quality angst for your plots and characters. This could be a very spiritual day, too. Do something soulful.

Mon Feb 20 the Moon is in Aquarius all day. The big deal is, tomorrow is the New Moon. Automatic Heads Up. Take care of your own stuff, and don't let yourself feel cut off from others.

Tue Feb 21 a very dark Moon conjuncts Neptune in the morning, then about three hours later we have the New Moon at 02Pis. We can find a way to stay practical and still express our feelings. Start something compassionate.

Wed Feb 22 the Moon conjuncts Mercury in Pisces. Writers need to analyze feelings as well as experience them. Keep your characters honest. Two hours later the Moon opposes Mars retrograde then goes void of course. This may be a day better suited to planning than to the execution of plans.

Thu Feb 23 the Moon is in Aries when Mercury opposes Mars retrograde. Rethink, reevaluate, and be happy at any changes or alterations you decide are wise to make. There's no need to get angry with yourself over anything.

Fri Feb 24 the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Aries. Innovate, invent, dare to explore and experiment. Look forward to a wild weekend, then keep it as under control as you want and need.

Sat Feb 25 the Moon conjuncts Venus in Aries. See and create beauty in places and ways that you've never noticed before. Have charming conversations, then go home and write vibrant personal poetry.

Sun Feb 26 the Moon enters Taurus early in the day. That evening, the Moon conjuncts Jupiter. If the day is too slow-paced for you, go write an action scene or something with a big car wreck, then be happy the day is so slow and serene.

Tue Feb 28 the Moon enters Gemini in the evening. We have from now till early Friday morning March 02 to indulge, promote, and progress with our writing schemes. It's not a bad way to close out the month. Is there something you started this month that would be quick to finish? Go for it.

Wed Feb 29 the Moon is in Gemini all day. Yes, we are getting a leap day, a Wednesday no less, with the Moon in Gemini. Don't squander it. Do something special, out of the ordinary, and maybe something you've been saving for just such as day as this.

While this month has some rough stretches, there are plenty of powerful positives to get us through. The first week, both Jupiter and Saturn are in signs ruled by Venus. Mars may be retrograde and some things done now may need to be done over, but at least Mars in in Virgo, which is ruled by Mercury. We can be more careful and considerate, and perhaps a bit less manic. Resolve to keep on track, as slowly as you please. Jupiter in Taurus likes steadiness of effort, and certainly Pluto in Capricorn likes effort. Uranus in Aries likes effort, too. Be brave, resilient, cheerful, and confident. Do good things all month long. Heads Up!

A brilliant question, indeed. How do we know that this is not just a random event. Well, as Ptolemy sayeth, "Since, then prognotication by astronomical means is divided into two great principal parts, and since the first and more universal is that which relates to whole races, countries and cities, which is called general, and the second more specific has to do with individual men....because matters are swayed by greater and more powerful causes than are particular events And since weaker natures always yield to the stronger..." Ptolemy tells us we should always look to the greater charts, i.e., Ingresses, New Moons, and Eclipses, because as smaller beings we are subject to the country we live in. In addition, he tells us that each country has a natural sympathy. Ptolemy tells us that Italy responds to the fiery triangle of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, and specifically to the sign Leo itself. Therefore in every spring chart, that we ever do for the country of Italy, we should make it a point to look specifically at the Sun, because He is the ruler of the sign Leo, and wherever the sign Leo is in the Spring Ingress chart will give us great clues as to what will happen in the coming year. Since we are talking about a Spring that took place some months back I am including here the illustration of the Spring Ingress set for Rome, the capital of Italy. I always use the capital, as that is the main city (except for USA, where I prefer New York <g>).
The first clue we have that there will be some event that has to do with travel and voyages (or religion) is that we see that the 9th house in Italy's Spring Chart, has Leo on the cusp. This is neither good nor bad. However, Lilly was very clear in that he said that we do not wish to have ruler of the 9th in the 4th house when we have travel charts, because he said that just as the 4th sector sits on the bottom of the circle, so too the 4th has to do with the bottom of the sea. Looking more closely, we can see the Sun placed right at the bottom of the chart, the 4th.... The Sun has to do with kings and rulers of countries. In shipping the Sun will be the natural ruler of captains, and presidents. The Sun placed in Aries is a place of enormous egocentricity. It is a sign of great masculinity (sign of Mars) and movement (cardinal fire). The chart appears to have leaders of the country with a dramatic flare, who think rather well of themselves (Sun in Exaltation), and conjunct Jupiter which can lead to their own demise (Sun in 4th), because not only is the Sun in the bottom of the chart, it is in opposition to the traditional planet with the ax, Saturn. The head of the country can make some rather erratic decisions, that can lead to accidents at sea (Sun ruler of the 9th) because as modern astrologers reading this, will notice, the Sun also sits on the bottom of the chart with Uranus! This planet is known for accidents! Like our ginzu knife sale, that's not all! The Moon was called by the ancients, the natural ruler of travel, because of her many changes. Notice the Moon is in the 10th house of head of state, and captains, and she is with the leaden Saturn.... all this does not spell well for journeys in the Italian national Spring chart. It also implies the leaders are going to lose their job, and not only did Captain Schettino lose his job, but so did former President Berlusconi!

Every ending is based upon a single beginning. The ancients were very careful to pay close attention to every little detail of birth, because they believed that the very first moment always contain the seeds of future. Traditional Eastern Astrologers believe that the omen even overrules what is in the chart!

When a ship is about to drop into the sea for the very first time, it is customary to break a bottle of champagne on the ship, for good luck. We do not know what time the Costa Concordia hit the water on that fateful day September 2nd, 2005, but those that view the video will notice, as the champagne bottle hits the side of the ship, it bounced off, altogether. Attentive listeners, can even hear the disappointed groan, of somebody who probably in his gut, knew it was not a good omen, because, alas, the bottle of champagne, did not break!

Nowhere can this idea be more profoundly send than in the initial launching of the Cost Concordia: INBEDVIDEO

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Wwn6-DlhiR0

So what happened in the last few hours of Friday the 13th of January, to bring this massive skyscraper of a ship to her side, on the tiny Giglio Island off the coast of Italy, leaving at least 5 dead? As of this writing, 17 people are still missing and many thousands of displaced vacationers stranded?

Astrologers know that this cruise ship's future, for better or worse, is fully encompassed within the very first splash the Costa Concordia made when starting out on this journey. Witnesses tell us she left the harbor of Citavechhio and headed out to sea at about 7:00 PM. Local time.

Insert CHART

As William Lilly has given us a great example of shipping rules <INSERT LINK TO SHIP AT SEA).

According to Lilly, the first house will be the ship and all who sail in her. Looking at the first house, we see that partying sign of Leo rises, we can assume that there was a festive and upbeat atmosphere on the ship, when it set sail. Such a playful feeling that some astute passengers were keen to notice that there were no safety drills as are the normal procedures. This casual attitude at launch is the first sign that those on board are in harm's way because their ruler, the Sun is placed in one of the weakest sector of the chart, the house of illness, known as the 6th house. In general, the Sun has to do with all things royal. And we could say that those onboard represented the crème de la crème of society, and is very descriptive of a ship filled with the upper echelon of society, dressed to the 'nines' and enjoying themselves to the fullest, but so placed completely in the dark as to the dangers that lurked just ahead. At about 9:15 pm, "we heard a crash. Glasses and plates fell down and we went out of the dining room and we were told it wasn't anything dangerous" according to Gert Hammer, 65 who, told The Associated Press she was eating her first course, an appetizer of cuttlefish, sauteed mushrooms and salad, on her first night aboard her first ever cruise, to its side. (link) Passengers were told it was but a minor electrical error, and like that Sun in the blind sixth, and kept 'in the dark' about what was really going on for another 45 minutes, until 10:00 pm, when power went off for good, when chaos erupted, with both passengers and crew were literally in the dark, while authorities contradicted one another.

Because the Sun is the natural representative of the top brass, this also suggests that management, specifically the captain, might have been rather weak. This is exacerbates by the square that the Sun is making to grim reaper of the planets, Saturn. In a sense, Saturn can be seen as a leaden weight, sort of a planetary albatross, in any journey, be it by air or sea. Wherever we see Saturn, on any trip, we are looking at potential trouble. Notice, in this map, Saturn sits almost at the bottom of the chart, dragging the ship downwards. Saturn is very strong, placed in the sign of blind justice, but placed in the 3rd house, of mental error. As the planetary owner of the Sun, clouds the judgment those at the helm.

If this were not enough, looking to the section denoting the captain, we see the very stubborn Taurus astride the cusp of the captain's house, the 10th. This makes the ever handsome and charming, Venus the captain's planetary emissary. Notice, Venus is in the house of others, the 7th, specifically with Neptune, the planet of illusion. Where we see Neptune, things are never as they seem. Where Neptune goes, drugs, and alcohol, all too often follow.
