The-Kiss!!

February 2011
For a month with the fewest days, there is nothing short about the action in this year’s February.

We open up with Feb 01 on a Tuesday (the day of the week for dynamic Mars, so we’re already off to a running start). The Moon in Capricorn conjuncts Mercury and then goes void of course until it enters Aquarius in the midday. The first half of the day will have better mental focus, so do your more important work then. Late that night, Venus sextiles Neptune. The evening can be dreamy and sweet. Heads Up all day, though. It’s the day before the New Moon and this always deserves extra caution.

Wed Feb 02 is the New Moon at 13 Aq. Declare some private independence. It may not be effortless or pretty, though, since Venus squares Uranus in the early hours while the Moon is still at its most dark, secretive, hidden, and dangerous. The New Moon happens fourteen hours later, and in less than an hour the Moon conjuncts Mars in Aquarius. The day may be a struggle, but it should end with a bright burst of energy. Direct it into something positive and constructive. It’s the kind of day when you can be rewarded for all the grit you show as a writer.

Thu Feb 03 Mercury changes signs and joins the Moon (and Mars and the Sun and Neptune) in Aquarius. There are a lot of people out there who think they know everything. There are things that you know, too, and they have little to do with facts (facts are important, yes, but are they truth?). That’s the stuff you write about. That night, Venus slips out of Sagittarius and joins the daily grind in Capricorn. Even work can be made into something elegant. About fifteen minutes later, the Moon conjuncts Neptune. If nothing else, have a gorgeous dream. It’s the start of the Chinese New Year of the metal Rabbit. Happy New Year!
Fri Feb 04 the Moon is in Pisces when Mars conjuncts the Sun. This does not have to be fiery anger. It can be a burst of inventiveness. If your plots are on the dull unexciting side, today you can plot something way over the top. You don’t have to write it out to the end. Try it as an exercise.

Sat Feb 05 the Moon is in Pisces all day. It’s an open heart open mind sort of day. Mercury sextiles Jupiter in the morning. Pleasant, even generous thoughts will be numerous. The Sun trines Saturn in the afternoon. This may gently expose the least realistic of the day’s earlier thoughts, leaving plenty of them valid and viable.

Sun Feb 06 the Moon is still in Pisces when Mars trines Saturn. What plans you make today have an excellent chance of being practical, and solid. A couple of hours later the Moon conjuncts Uranus in the next to the last degree of Pisces. Don’t be swerved by all the dreamy idealism. That night, the Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Aries. Tomorrow can be a high-energy day. Pump it into your own projects.

Wed Feb 09 the Moon spends the day in Taurus. Persistence can get you far. Late afternoon, Venus conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. Be pleased with the work you’ve done. We are having a month of Wednesdays with the Moon in fixed signs, are we not? It’s a good month to stick with your own program.

Fri Feb 11 the Moon enters the sign of Gemini. It’s a writer’s weekend. From now till Sunday evening, make the most of your words and communication skills and opportunities.

Mon Feb 14 the Moon is in Cancer when Mercury trines Saturn. Intuition and cold logic can work together today, and with the Moon in Cancer, you don’t have to lose the soft emotional touch. Write on! Happy Valentine’s Day.

Wed Feb 16 the Moon is in Leo all day. Let your work (and yourself) shine.

Thu Feb 17 the Moon is still in Leo when the Sun conjuncts Neptune in Aquarius. This is mystical energy to carry into tomorrow, when we get the Full Moon. This is also the day when the Sun occupies the last degree of Aquarius, encouraging the most stubborn and rigid thinking. Heads Up.

Fri Feb 18 is the Full Moon at 29 Leo. Persist in work that is regal and worth the sacrifice. By the afternoon the tone of the world will change when the Sun leaves Aquarius and enters Pisces. Heads Up on this. Emotions have all month long to rise to the top and for feelings to grow more tender.

Sun Feb 20 the Moon is in Libra when Mercury conjuncts Mars. Heads Up. You may have more ideas than you know what to do with. Let some slide. Two and a half hours later Mercury conjuncts Neptune. Some ideas may be way too mystical to deal with. Write music and literary criticism. Now brace yourself for the true Heads Up of the month. Three hours later is the Mars Neptune conjunction. This is a combination that can make magic, for good or ill. Heads Up in even what you dream, because today it is possible for it to be made real.

Mon Feb 21 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Libra. Saturn is retrograde, remember. Perhaps it’s a good day to work on some of the more subtle sides of editing. In the afternoon, Mercury changes signs and follows the Sun into Pisces. Thoughts turn to more emotional concerns. All stories have some romantic interest.

Tue Feb 22 the Moon is in Scorpio when Mars changes signs and enters Pisces. This might be a good day to write scenes of full-blown quarrels. In the real world, do what you can to stay calm and non-confrontational.

Wed Feb 23 the Moon is in Scorpio all day. Heads Up. Get deeply serious about your work. Don’t argue with agents, editors, publishers, or writer friends, though because, hey, we all have issues and opinions and today such disagreements might spin wildly out of control. In fact, tomorrow the Sun conjuncts Mercury, traditionally interpreted as a day when reason does not exist in the world. I’m not personally sold on that interpretation but I do think that any aspect is stronger while it is applying and not yet perfected. So, let’s do a double Heads Up. Make this a good day to keep you head on straight and your heart not on your sleeve.

Thu Feb 25 the Moon is in Sagittarius when the Sun conjuncts Mercury. Rationality may not be in abundance, but generosity and open hearts might be. Midday, Jupiter squares Pluto. This is a very slowly changing aspect that we’ve been living with for a long time now. Be strong and in control of your own work, but don’t be rigid about it. Remember, although you may not believe this, you already have fans.

Sun Feb 27 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. Be willing to dig deep and see what needs to be changed to be improved.

Mon Feb 28 the Moon conjuncts Venus in Capricorn. This is a sweet note on which to end a stressful month. Your work deserves to be beautiful.

Well this month packed a punch, so full of Mars energy that’s it’s enough to make your face red. Hang in there, though, because Mars is spending most of the month in Aquarius and is marching to Saturn’s tune. Saturn is slower and stronger, with more self-control. Get as much work done this month as you can, and feel virtuous. Feel strong, proud, accomplished, accomplishing, and happy. It’s all one big work in progress. Make it beautiful and let it shine. Heads Up!
