Heads Up!

The Writer’s Astrological Almanac

By Kathy Watts

January 2019

(all times are PST)

Happy New Year! 2018 bites the dust. We can make 2019 as happy and productive a year as we please. The year starts on a Tuesday, the day of the week for Mars. Just yesterday Mars moved into its home sign Aries. Reach out and touch gold. Write the best and truest that we can write. This is Saturn and Capricorn season. Saturn will like a strong honest effort.

Tue Jan 01 the Moon is in Scorpio all day. The Moon conjoins Venus in the afternoon and goes void of course. Heads Up. It can still be lovely day. Keep it as uncomplicated as possible. The Sun conjoins Saturn in Capricorn in the evening. This is about as real as it gets. It’s good to have a real year.

Wed Jan 02 the Moon is in Scorpio for the first hour but then spends all the rest of the day in Sagittarius. The party mood may not be all gone. Enjoy your work.

Thu Jan 03 the Moon conjoins Jupiter in Sagittarius. Make big plans for the day but don’t get carried away.

Fri Jan 04 the Moon conjoins Mercury in Sagittarius at 9:41 am and goes void of course for an hour and fourteen minutes before entering Capricorn. The morning may start off light-hearted but it may not last. The Moon is in Capricorn when Mercury changes signs, leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn. Stick to your schedule but don’t beat yourself up over it. It’s also the day before the New Moon (which will be a solar eclipse). Heads Up in all ways that matter to you.

Sat Jan 05 the very dark Moon conjoins Saturn at 10:32 am. Approach a project seriously, if only a small part of it. See what you can get done. At 5:28 pm is the New Moon and solar eclipse at 15 Cap. Heads Up. No matter what is going on in the world, you have your own work and your own responsibilities.

Sun Jan 06 the Moon conjoins Pluto in Capricorn. Heads Up. Stay calm and don’t let anything derail you. You’re getting it done. Uranus goes direct at 12:27 pm. Uranus has been retrograde since early August. Settle down and focus on what’s important to you.

Mon Jan 07 the Moon is in Aquarius when Venus changes signs, leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius. Heads Up. Aesthetics brighten up. Life may get more social and fun.

Wed Jan 09 the Moon enters Pisces at 11:44 am. The morning may have been productive but the rest of the day could get a bit blurred. Let your intuition be your guide here.

Thu Jan 10 the Moon conjoins Neptune in Pisces at 4:47 pm. Poetry, anyone?

Fri Jan 11 the Moon is in Pisces all day. At 3:38 am the Sun conjoins Pluto in Capricorn. Heads Up. Write that shocking but inevitable plot twist now. The Sun conjoins Chiron at 9:09 pm. Lay low, relax, and consider what lesson you might have learned today.

Sat Jan 12 the Moon conjoins Mars in Aries at 4:12 pm. Get motivated and pounce on a project that’s special to you.

Sun Jan 13 the Moon is in Aries all day. At 5:31 am Mercury conjoins Saturn. You could overthink the entire day if you’re not careful.

Mon Jan 14 the Moon conjoins Uranus in Aries and goes void of course at 7:56 am. Wake up with a wacky idea that you may need to get out of your system. At 10:31 am the Moon enters Taurus. A good pre-lunch snack should settle you down.

Wed Jan 16 the Moon enters Gemini at 5:00 pm. Heads Up from now until Friday evening for more quality time to express all those mercurial impulses that keep your creativity going.

Fri Jan 18 the Moon is in Gemini when Mercury conjoins Pluto at 12:03 pm. Heads up. You may not want to make a big decision, but you’ll do it anyway. The Sun squares Uranus at 5:31 pm. Heads Up. Get inventive and outrageous some other time. Right now, stick to the basics and be happy. The Moon leaves Gemini and enters Cancer at 7:44 pm. Sounds like suppertime to me.

Sat Jan 19 the Moon is in Cancer all day. You may feel disinclined to go out today. If so, stay in and work. The big news, though, is that today is the last day the Sun spends in Capricorn. Tomorrow the world may seem bigger and looser although not much warmer. Heads Up.

Sun Jan 20 the Moon is in Cancer when at 1:00 am the Sun enters the sign Aquarius. Heads up. Your audience is bigger than you realize. Get organized. At 9:16 pm is the Full Moon and lunar eclipse at 00 Leo 52. Heads up. Let your light shine and see it as fun as well as fulfilling.

Tue Jan 22 the Moon is still in Leo when Venus conjoins Jupiter. Heads up. Be open to working on something personal and pleasant. Others will be appreciate it.

Wed Jan 23 the Moon is in Virgo all day. We’re spending most of the Wednesdays this month with the Moon in mutable signs. People do not always have to be interruptions. At 9:49 pm Mercury changes signs, leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius. Heads Up. Think of your work as less of a grind and more of an outreach.

Tue Jan 29 the Moon is in Sagittarius when the Sun conjoins Mercury in Aquarius. Both of these signs can think, and act, big. Follow your instincts and go for it.

Wed Jan 30 the Moon is in Sagittarius all day. The Moon conjoins Jupiter at 4:23 pm. Feel lucky and maybe send that text or email or make that call. At 9:50 pm the Moon trines Mars. Feel good about what you’ve done today, even if there aren’t yet tangible, visible results.

Thu Jan 31 the Moon conjoins Venus at 9:35 am. Be in a good mood all morning. At 4:47 pm the Moon enters Capricorn. We end the month on a serious note. Make it constructive and productive. Take your work seriously and be proud of it.

January is a zinger, at least the first half, but that’s when the most progress can be made, and when the best course corrections can happen. Be diligent, determined, and dignified about your work and how you do it.

Be responsible, respect yourself and your work, and grab 2019 by the horns and don’t let go. The world may not be ready for the fantastic work that you can produce. Do it anyway! Happy New Year! Heads Up!!
