Heads Up!

The Writer’s Astrological Almanac

By Kathy Watts

September 2019

(all times are PDT)

Here comes the Sun, sorta, for this September. There will be several aspects between the Sun and most of the planets, especially meaning outer planets. We also lose a major retrograde later in the month as Saturn goes stationary direct. What? You’re not ready for the ball to start rolling again? Saturn has a reputation for halting things, when actually it’s more like slowing down the break-neck pace that the inner planets favor. Keep your shoulders down and your hands up this month. You may want to remember to wear your sturdy gloves, too.

Sun Sept 01 the Moon is in Libra all day. It may be Venus’s sign but it’s the Sun’s day of the week. Make the most of this, make it as smooth as possible, and glide into some pleasant progress. Mercury trines Uranus at 7:11 am. Go for surprisingly smooth, if you can, or just let it happen.

Mon Sept 02 the Moon is still in Libra but void of course when the Sun conjoins Mars. Heads Up. Mind the gap between what is said or written and what is understood. Don’t let anger or frustration win. The Moon enters Scorpio at 4:35 pm. Realize that this may not make things any better. Heads up.

Tue Sept 03 the Moon is in Scorpio when Mercury conjoins Mars at 8:40 am. It’s also the day of the week given to Mars. Be energetic but not rampantly disorganized. Do good things, and do a lot of them. At 6:40 pm the Sun conjoins Mercury. Heads Up. All those great hot ideas from earlier in the day? How do you feel about them now?

Wed Sept 04 the Moon is in Scorpio most of the day, not entering Sagittarius until 8:08 pm. Serious times deserve serious effort. Work on what seriously matters to you.

Fri Sept 06 the Moon conjoins Jupiter in Sagittarius. You can make a bit more luck for yourself, if you’re not egotistic about it. The Moon is void of course in Sagittarius when the Sun trines Saturn retrograde at 2:56 pm. You, and your work, could be given a bit more authority now. Choose your words wisely.

Sun Sept 08 the Moon in Capricorn conjoins Saturn retrograde at 6:42 am. Start the day with deliberation. At 8:27 am the Sun squares Jupiter. Heads up. What you thought was a good thing may have a second, more difficult side to it. At 8:03 pm the Moon conjoins Pluto. You don’t need to stress out about anything.

Mon Sept 09 the Moon is still in Capricorn when Mars trines Saturn retrograde. Let this prevent you from turning a challenge into something harder. Feel strong but not belligerent. Heads Up.

Tue Sept 10 the Moon is in Aquarius when the Sun opposes Neptune. A cherished fantasy or illusion could bite the dust. In fact, a social or global fantasy could bite the dust. Keep a low profile and be grateful for clarity no matter how it comes.

Wed Sept 11 the Moon is in Aquarius all day. Are you a peacemaker, or a revolutionary? Is it possible to be both at the same time? Write, write, write, and remember that there are people who believe that all art is political.

Thu Sept 12 the Moon is void of course in Aquarius when Mars squares Jupiter. No one else’s discontent can sour your mood or lessen your progress now. Keep an open mind, and your dictionary and thesaurus handy.

Fri Sept 13 the Moon is in Pisces when Mercury conjoins Venus at 8:11 am. People may be more inclined to talk about love and emotions today. Use words respectfully, as many hearts may be worn on sleeves now. At 12:42 pm the Sun trines Pluto. Be sharp and don’t feel unprepared should there be an unexpected turn of events. At 1:43 pm the Moon conjoins Neptune. It may not be helpful but if worse comes to worse, there’s always a daydream. At 9:33 pm we have the Full Moon at 21 Pis. Ah, a lunar month potentially full of love and illumination. Heads up for the deepest, most sensitive powers of observation that any writer or artist could want. The Moon promptly goes void of course. At 10:25 pm Mars opposes Neptune. Heads Up. Sometimes the magic doesn’t work the way you intended. Don’t fight it.

Sat Sept 14 the Moon is still void of course in Pisces when at 12:14 am Mercury changes signs, leaves Virgo and enters Libra. Heads up for mental activity to become more genteel, perhaps with a touch of prankster. At 6:43 am Venus changes signs, leaves Virgo and enters Libra. Enjoy whatever luxuries are being offered, without rabidly pursuing them. Sometimes you do need to ask but sometimes not directly asking can yield more. At 3:32 pm the Moon leaves Pisces and enters Aries. No one is going to be shy about asking now.

Tue Sept 17 the Moon conjoins Uranus in Taurus. A stubborn problem or plot complication could be beaten into submission today. Consider the rubber mallet rather than the sledgehammer. Also, today is the last day of Saturn retrograde. If there’s something that you’ve enjoyed being able to avoid, that could be slowly coming to an end.

Wed Sept 18 the Moon is in Taurus all day. At 1:47 am Saturn goes stationary direct. There are times and situations when it feels really good to face the music and dance.

Thu Sept 19 at 1:58 pm the Moon leaves Taurus and enters Gemini. Heads up for the creative soul’s happy time. Read, write, study, explore, experience, converse, discuss, and do all those other mercurial activities that pay off big-time if not right away but eventually.

Sat Sept 21 the Moon leaves Gemini and enters Cancer at 9:50 pm. Get much done? Have any insights? Any new sources of excitement or fun? It’s perhaps early for that midnight snack, but I’ve never let that stop me.

Mon Sept 23 the Moon is in Cancer when the Sun changes signs, leaves Virgo and enters Libra at 12:50 am. Heads Up. It’s the Equinox, the first day of autumn in the northern hemisphere and the first day of spring in the southern. There are twelve hours of daylight and twelve hours of night all over the world. The Sun rises due east and sets due west. For a peek at what the next three months may hold, cast yourself an ingress chart. If you’ve been craving balance, today we have it. With the Moon in Cancer, it can all be brought home. Feel at ease with wherever you are and with whatever you’re doing.

Wed Sept 25 the Moon is in Leo all day. Create that new world and fill it with characters, each of them being some facet of you. Now that’s empowerment.

Fri Sept 27 the Moon conjoins Mars in Virgo at 8:58 pm and then goes void of course. It’s possible to be energetic and meticulous at the same time. (This does not mean that you have to spend the day cleaning and organizing the medicine cabinet.) It’s also the day before the New Moon. Heads Up. Be safe, strong, and sensible.

Sat Sept 28 we have the New Moon at 05 Lib at 11:26 am. Be diplomatic, with yourself as well as with your social and business contacts. This is the lunar month to smoothe out some superficial wrinkles that have perhaps been slowing down progress.

Sun Sept 29 the Moon conjoins Venus in Libra at 8:38 am. Make it a sunny, socially pleasant day. Romance novelists, write the ballroom scene. At 7:06 pm the Moon conjoins Mercury in Libra and goes void of course. Sometimes listening is more productive than talking. At local sunset, Rosh Hashanah begins.

Mon Sept 30 the Moon enters Scorpio at 2:42 am. You can end September on a serious note, and feel good about it.

For a rigorous, hard-working month, there is very little harshness. You can get a lot done, with very few bruises but not with a lot of laughs, either. There can be plenty of smiles, though. Be cool and enjoy what’s good, day by day.

The Sun interacts with all the planets. There are trines as well as squares. Be true to yourself. Mercury and Venus have a lot to say this month, too. Pay attention to the near to home, personal concerns and there will be fewer interruptions when you’re doing your creative thing.

Be calm, cool. careful, bright, beautiful, and balanced. Heads Up!
