Mon Aug 17 the Moon is in Cancer when Mercury conjuncts Saturn in Virgo. It’s a day made for editing, or for nailing down the details in that synopsis or new plot outline. Later, the Sun opposes Neptune retrograde. Critical reading is essential but can be taken to an ugly extreme. Later still, Mars trines Neptune retrograde. Magic is still alive and well, perhaps hiding out in some manuscript of yours.

Wed Aug 19 the Moon is in Leo all day.  Sit in your workspace and radiate nobility and accomplishment.  It’s also the day before the New Moon.  Even if the world dares to say no, keep your head up and your eyes open.  You are equal to all challenges, but don’t be reckless.  Heads Up.

Thu Aug 20 is the New Moon at 27Leo.  Some odd, new, and huge, idea may escape from your brain today.  Embrace it.

Fri Aug 21 the Moon is in Virgo when Mercury opposes Uranus retrograde.  This can be harsh on rampant creativity, but great for more conservative efforts.  Later, the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Virgo.  You can be rebellious some other time.  To use today to its fullest, I say, Heads Up.

Sat Aug 22 the Moon conjuncts Mercury in Virgo.  This is another opportunity to attend to details (especially embarrassing ones).  Late morning, the Moon moves into Libra, where it is when the Sun changes signs and enters Virgo.  If you were lukewarm about precision, that will stop. Indulge in a month of the pursuit of perfection, from the heart.

Tue Aug 25 the Moon is in Scorpio all day, making it a serious day.  Fool around less.  Mars leaves Gemini and enters the sign of Cancer.  This always increases the emotional consequences of fooling around.  Be cheerful but intent.  Mercury also changes signs and moves into Libra.  Think more kindly, but don’t become more sloppy.  That evening Mercury squares Mars.  There will be little tolerance for foolish actions.  In short, it’s a Heads Up kind of day.

Wed Aug 26 the Moon is in Scorpio when Mercury squares Pluto.  You can argue all you like; but some changes are necessary.  Venus next changes signs and enters Leo.  Beauty and good manners take the high road.  Mars opposes Pluto.  If Mars is the soldier and Pluto is the army, then this is the aspect of the court martial.  Don’t get caught in the crossfire.  Heads Up.  At long last, the Moon quits with Scorpio and moves into Sagittarius.  Don’t things feel better already?

Fri Aug 28 the Moon is still in Sagittarius when Mercury sextiles Venus for the second time this month.  Things can be done correctly and beautifully.  Mercury is slowing down, preparing for one last retrograde period a week from now.  Until then, may new words shine.

Sat Aug 29 the Moon enters Capricorn and, guess what?, conjuncts Pluto.  Always be open to change, but not so open that things fall apart.  Four hours later the Moon opposes Mars.  This can help you pull back from the edge.  Heads Up.

In all, it seems an intense month for being in the heart of playful summer, but actually, summer is pretty darn intense all on its own.  The sky seems embroiled in the middle of the things, opposed to the end of things.  We all know, though, that time, life, and the sky are all one big circle, and that the end of anything is merely the signal for the start of something else.  This may be the great cosmic Heads Up of them all.  I risk getting philosophical here because we’re all writers, and we all know that if we don’t swim in the deep waters once in a while, who else will?  And won’t life rapidly devolve into an endless stream of corn chips, warm beer, flat screen televisions, and big shiny new trucks?  Heavens help us!  Have a powerful and power-driven month!   Heads Up!
